Tough question.
San Francisco is my favorite city, but Oregon is my favorite state.
San Fran is so diverse and full of life, all the people there are really friendly and liberal, and they have awesome restaurants.
I've been all over Oregon though. The beaches tend to be pretty chilly and windy but on clear days they're really nice--in the summer the highs tend to be in the 60's and the lows are 40's-50's. Some areas are REALLY good for fishing. There's also lots of crabs running around.
Oregon has a lot of mountains, since the Cascades pass right through it. Lots and lots of mountains, and the hills there make the hills in Austin look really, really flat. Great biking area.
One of my aunts actually has a summer home on one of the mountains there (black butte) and you can see all the mountains surrounding you very clearly, it's a very cool place. This summer when I went, there was a huge fire before so lots and lots of trees were dead.
Oregon also has a TON of forests, with VERY tall trees. I went hiking in Silver Falls once, I literally felt like I was walking through a fairy tale or fantasy movie like Princess Mononoke or something. It was surreal, and gorgeous.
The must-see site in Oregon is by FAR Crater Lake. This summer I went there, and it was the most beautiful thing I've seen in my entire life. If you think photographs of it look cool, just see the real deal in PERSON. Absolutely. Magical. Photographs will nevereverever do the lake justice. At the very top of this post is a picture I took of Crater Lake.
Crater lake is actually an old volcano that collapsed and water collected inside the "crater", forming a lake. Along side crater lake, life thrives--again, it felt like walking through the movie Princess Mononoke--green forests, springs, and a TON of these orange butterflies zooming by all in one direction--and I mean a TON. There must have been hundreds of thousands of them.
There's also these funky rock formations called the Pinnacles--some are several stories tall, and are just columns of rock, a bit like stalagmites.
Yeah, I'm about done with my rant here.

Gosh, that sounds beautiful. How often do you go there? Doesn't the cold drive you like insane? I've been up there a couple times and I almost froze to death.
suuuper late response time:
I go there every few years to visit family.
It's not that cold really, depending on the area.
The coast and mountains can get preeeetty cold, but once you go to the valley area, it's a lot warmer.
